Global notebook shipments made a around 5% sequential decline in the fourth quarter of 2023 before enjoying a minor increase in the first quarter of 2024 thanks primarily to robust orders from the eduction procurement sector
Abstract

Global notebook shipments, not including detachable models, had a performance stronger than expected in the first quarter of 2024, down only 3.5% sequentially, better than the usual seasonal decline of 15% in the past years.

The growth benefited from a low comparison base in the fourth quarter of 20203 because seasonality only had a limited influence on the quarter's shipments, while Intel had postponed the launch of its latest CPU platform and some channels pulled in their orders early to avoid the rising notebook quotes.

Shipments in the second quarter will grow slightly from a quarter ago. Even though mature markets will continue to be undermined by the slow season, North America's education procurement and enterprises sectors will both see shipment increases in the second quarter.
